WOMEN IN BRAZIL
Luiza Trajano is a billionaire businesswoman named by Forbes as Brazil’s Wealthiest woman. Under her leadership, Magazine Luiza became a chain of over 1,000 stores throughout Brazil with over 18 million clients and 45,000 employees. She is the chair of Women of Brazil, a civil society organisation founded in 2013 by 40 Brazilian women entrepreneurs and dedicated to promoting equal rights. In 2017, the murder of an employee inspired Trajano to create a domestic violence hotline for her staff, providing counselling, legal advice and practical assistance for escaping abusers.
