MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR THE SCOTTISH NATIONAL PARTY



Mhairi Black is a Scottish National Party politician and MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South. Born in Paisley, she studied politics and public policy at the University of Glasgow, gaining a first-class honours degree in 2015. She joined the SNP and campaigned for Scottish independence in the run-up to the 2014 referendum and then stood for parliament in the 2015 general election at the age of 20.


She ousted the shadow foreign secretary Douglas Alexander from his previously safe Labour seat, becoming one of the youngest MP’s to be elected in Britain since 1667.
